HOW TO APPLY MAKEUP FOR BEGINNERS
Makeup is a powerful and undeniably effective addition given to our face to make a perfect appearance aesthetically. Makeup is an art that impresses the wearer and even an onlooker when applied correctly and creatively. But before a face can impress with the addition of a corresponding makeup, certain preparations need to be put in place to ensure the face is ready to be beautified, and certain steps need to be mastered to know what to apply first, and what to go next, before that which should be applied last. Below is a step by step guide to follow in applying makeup:
The primary requirement for makeup is the face, and that’s why the first step to set it and determine what type of base it is to take, by “base,” we are talking of the best foundation for the face to be made up. Knowing the skin type is the prerequisite for determining which foundation would work best- for the dry, normal, or oily skin types. Once this is determined, the next step is to decide on either to use the liquid foundation or the powder foundation.
To apply a liquid foundation:
Ensure the face is readily cleaned with a soap to remove hindering impurities. It is advisable to use moisturizers on the face before the whole process after washing the face by leaving it to go deep into the skin for at least five minutes. After this, the foundation (pea sized) can then be applied with either a foundation brush, the hands, or a sponge. However, you should be careful so that a heavy amount isn’t applied to an area than the other.
To apply a powder foundation:
This process is believed to be easier than applying its liquid counterpart as powders are made of small and soft particles that blend into the skin faster. Similar to the liquid foundation process, the face should be cleansed and also moisturized before the powder is being applied. To apply the powder, you need to use a soft pad or a light brush to perform a sweeping motion on the face with powder on it. However, excess powder is likely to be applied, hence the need to remember that little is much with the powder foundation.
THE EYES MAKEUP
The eyes are important parts of the face and must be given utmost attention when the makeup is being applied on the whole face. The eyes have their products differently from that of the whole face; the most relevant ones are the eye shadows, eyeliner, and mascara.
To apply eyeshadow:
Eyeshadow can easily be applied by a finger or a brush, but the latter is mostly recommended when planning for eyeshadow that would last longer. To apply it, pick your desired light color with your brush or finger and dab a little on your palm. Carefully apply it on the eyelids with your closed or open eyes, like the powder foundation, eyeshadow can suddenly add up than the required amount while applying it, hence the need to apply it lightly.
To apply mascara:
If you intend to use a curler, first curl your lashes, remove the wand from its tube and hold it horizontally in the position of your eyes, carefully brush it on your eyelashes in an upward direction, you can repeat this process to rest assured of an evenly applied product.
To apply eyeliner:
It is advisable for you to work with a mirror closely at this stage. You need to close your eyes gently and create some dots with the eyeliner above the lid from the inside of the eyeline towards where the lash line ends. After making these dots, you can now start to join the line up gradually; if this is correctly done, you should have drawn a neat and straight line.
Once you have decided on the perfect brow shape for yourself, pick up an eyebrow pencil and draw in the brows, to ensure a perfectly drawn shape, you first need to control or remove any overgrown or outbound strand of hair by a pair of tweezers. Draw a neat shape on the brow and ensure you do not go too hard on it as your result may appear unreal.
THE CHEEKBONES AND THE CHEEKS
This part is one of the most revealing parts in the whole process; once it is rightly drawn, the face would wear a new and glamorous appearance. The first thing is to find the right color that fits your skin tone; this could be done by trying out some of it on the part of your hand- the wrist preferably. The most relevant products that work along with this part are the brush, bronzer, and the highlighter.
To apply the brush: Dab a little of the product on your brush and remove the extra by dusting it off slightly, let out your best smile while looking into the mirror, place your brush on points above your smile or above the round parts of your cheek. With this, where to place the blush can easily be determined, then brush on the product in an upward directly lightly till you have the part lightly colored.
To apply bronzer: Take your bronzer brush, put some powder on its bristles and remove the excess one, then make a pout and lightly swipe the product upwards to the direction of the ears following your cheekbone.
To apply highlighter: Pick up a separate brush, trace where you have used the bronzer and target to highlight the area above that part. You can go further by highlighting the area above the cheekbone towards the head too
With these fast and easy steps, a beginner should be able to set a face and make it ready for any event already, even if the makeup might not be as fancy as expected.
